On new beginnings...
But not without a recap.
Hey!
If you are reading this, thank you — for believing in me. You are among the first people who subscribed to this newsletter — one that was supposed to be launched last year. As I share the first issue today, my heart is filled with nothing but gratitude. Thank you for still being here!
Naval says, “Inspiration is perishable - act on it immediately.” A new day, a new week, a new month, and a new year — they bring with themselves fresh bursts of energy, and while I am still motivated, I might just as well use this inspiration to get started!
So, here we go!
Lessons from 2021
I am taking the liberty of using this particular edition to take you through my takeaways from 2021 — a year that was both challenging and eye opening at the same time for me. Here is what I learnt:
You are so much more than a label or two. An academic degree, a job role, your age, and all these factors combined are not enough to define you. You are your capabilities. You are who you choose to become. Do not limit yourself to a label or two when you have a world full of endless opportunities at your disposal.
You are always in a position to choose your battles — choose them wisely!
Pick up the signals from your distractions. Your distractions are not as useless as you might be thinking. A distraction is your conscience shouting out to you to reconsider your choices. Listen to them and use them to your benefit.
If you really want to do something, take that first step that you have been delaying for so long. The stakes of NOT getting started continue to get higher with each minute that passes!
I hope you find your way out through whatever it is that is holding you back from achieving your full potential in life, I am navigating through the hurdles in mine.
A question for you:
The famous British mathematician G. H. Hardy was the mentor of the mathematical prodigy S. Ramanujan. Here, he talks fondly about the latter.
My question for you is, how would you like to be remembered?
Irrespective of which corners of the world we live in, the last few months (the year, in general) have been difficult on us in one way or the other. Right now, in this moment, I am manifesting better days for you.
“For last year's words belong to last year's language. And next year's words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning."
― T.S. Eliot
I’d be looking forward to your feedback. Tell me what would you like me to improve or what would you like to read about.
PS, I am still not very sure what are the other issues going to be about, and honestly, I don’t want to limit myself by putting up labels. I’ll look forward to seeing you again! :)

“A distraction is your conscience shouting out to you to reconsider your choices.” The way you have expressed this thought is just brilliant.👌💐
Excellent Surbhi.
